Last week an article appeared in De Standaard::

Toyota reacts on the use of LandCruisers by Afghan Entities.

"Officially, no Toyota LandCruiser was shipped to Afghanistan."
Nevertheless we see those vehicles all the time on footage from the most remote regions, to the capital cities.
According to the company, these jeeps were probably brought into the country from Iran or Pakistan by the Taliban...
"We regret that they are being used in this war, and we regret that the terrorists of AlQuiada are using them to wage war..."
"But those vehicles were probably chosen for their reliability, sturdiness and rugged-terrain characteristics. It seems that even terrorists know quality..." (sic, translated)...

One cannot help to wonder about the ethics of such a company statement. On the one end they deny that they have any interest, on the other hand they cannot stop themselves from praising their products... It's a cruel world out there, and for the moderate consu-man that we are, it sure as hell isn't easy to swallow all this hidden teasers and publicity.

So in the end, Toyota's message is this: we don't care if you're getting shot from one of our vehicles. In fact we admire these terrorists for their good taste and their fine ability as judgmental and educated consumers.

Wacondah.com says this: WE WILL NEVER BUY TOYOTA.
We're sick of the hypocrisy.

With a charm and a kiss, over and out for now
